Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 24

A camp fair, a talent show and a concert featuring guitar.

1. Newton Has Talent! The top 10 finalists will perform in the Newton Has Talent show this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Newton North. Tickets are $10

2. Back Bay Guitar Trio. The Back Bay Guitar Trio will give a free concert this afternoon at the Newton Free Library. David Newsam, John Mason, Sharon Wayne and special guest John Muratore will feature a program of South American composers Paulo Bellinati, Astor Piazzolla and Antonio Carlos Jobim, as well as works by Dave Brubeck, Django Reinhardt and original compositions by John Mason and Anka Maso. The performance starts at 2 p.m.

3. Camp Fair. The Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center will host an All-Camp Fair today from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Meet directors from the JCC's overnight, specialty and day camps and find out more information on which camp is right for your family. For more information, contact camping@jccgb.org or 617-244-5124.

4. Newton Choral Society. The Newton Choral Society will give a special performance of Die Schöpfung (The Creation) by Franz Joseph Haydn this afternoon at Sanders Theatre at Harvard University, 45 Quincy St., Cambridge. Tickets are $35 ($30 for students and seniors) and the concert starts at 3 p.m.

5. Shingles vaccines. Newton residents can call the Health & Human Services Department to make an appointment to receive a shingles vaccine. The clinics will be held in late March and April at City Hall. There is no charge to receive the vaccine. The clinics are open to adults age 60 and older who have checked with their primary health care provider to make sure the vaccine is appropriate for them. Call 617-796-1420 to make your appointment.
