Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 4

An art reception, an awards night and the Board of Aldermen meet.

1. Board of Aldermen. The Newton Board of Aldermen will met tonight at 7:45 p.m. in the Aldermanic Chamber at Newton City Hall. One of the items on tonight's reports docket is a vote on whether to piggyback a Ward 1 alderman-at-large special election with the June 25 special Senate election. The full reports docket is included in the .pdf section to the right.

2. Art reception. The Newton Free Library will host a reception tonight for this month's exhibit, which is from the Newton Camera Club. The print exhibit will be on display in the main hall through March 28. Tonight's free reception starts at 7 p.m.

3. Newton North winter awards night. The Newton North High School Athletics Department will host its winter varsity awards night tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Newton North auditorium.

4. Call for artists and antique dealers. The Silver Newtones, a non-profit senior chorus in Newton, is sponsoring an antique/artisan show on April 13 at the Newton Cultural Center. All artisans and antique specialists are encouraged to apply for the juried antique/artisan show. Applications are available on the Silver Newtones website.
