Five Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 17

BC football, a New Phil concert and craft shows galore.

1. BC football. The Boston College Eagles will face Virginia Tech in a home game today in Chestnut Hill at 12:30 p.m. Make sure you check the parking restrictions so your car does not get towed!

2. Holiday Craft Show. The Newton Holiday Craft Show will take place today at the Newton Cultural Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patrons can view and purchase beautiful paintings, pottery, textiles, jewelry, glass and photography by talented New England artists. 

3. "Duo of Threes." The New Philharmonia Orchestra will give a performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 this evening and the performance will feature Abel Sanchez Aguilera on piano. The concert, which starts at 8 p.m., will be held at the First Baptist Church in Newton Centre. Tickets are $35-$45 for adults, $32-$40 for seniors and $10 for students

4. Another craft show! The Women's Club of Newton Highlands will host a holiday craft fair today at the Hyde Community Center. In addition to talented artists selling crafts, there will also be a bake sale and face painting. The event runs from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

5. Catch the meteors! If the sky is clear tonight, you should be able to catch the Leonid Meteor Shower, which peaks tonight through Tuesday.
