Five Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 18

A couple of concerts, another craft fair and tips on turkey carving.

1. New Phil concert. After giving a performance last night, the New Philharmonia Orchestra will perform once again this afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Newton Centre. Tonight's concert will continue the "Duo of Threes" series with a performance of Schumann's Symphony No. 3, "Rhenish." The concert starts at 3 p.m. and tickets are $35-$45 general admission, $32-40 for seniors and $10 for students. 

2. Free concert. The Bay State Winds, the clarinet quartet of the Air Force Band of Liberty, will give a free concert this afternoon at the Newton Free Library. The concert, which starts at 2 p.m., will feature "March", Op. 99 by Sergei Prokofiev, "Four for Four" (suite of four Latin American dances) by Jorge Montilla, "A Klezmer Wedding" by Mike Curtis and more.

3. Holiday gift faire. The faire will be held at the American Legion Post 440 today from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

4. Turkey carving and knife sharpening. Whole Foods at Four Corners will host a turkey carving and brining demo today from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. In addition, knife sharpening will be available from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. along with cider and snacks. 

5. All In. The Boston Jewish Film Festival, which runs until tomorrow (Nov. 19), will continue today in Newton with a showing of All In at the West Newton Cinema. The showing starts at 1 p.m. and only rush line tickets are available -- so get there early!
