Five Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 4

A free concert, free museum admission and a weatherization workshop.

1. Free concert. Pianist Wanda Paik will give a solo performance this afternoon at the Newton Free Library. The free concert will include Rondo in A minor, K. 511 by Mozart, Sonata in A Major, D. 664 by Schubert and Etude Tableau in C, Op. 33 No. 2 by Rachmaninoff. The concert starts at 2 p.m.

2. Weatherization workshop. The Mass Save Residential Energy program will give a free weatherization workshop today at Newton City Hall. The workshop is open to landlords of 1-4 unit buildings. 

3. Best of Newton Juried Art Fest. Newton Open Studios’ annual "Best of Newton" Juried Fine Art and Craft Show and Sale will take place today and tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Newton Cultural Center. This year, there are more than twice the number of participants compared to previous years -- 77 local, juror-selected artists will have their artwork and crafts on display and for sale.

4. Free museum admission. According to a press release issued last week, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders in the area can receive free admission to a number of Boston museums today including the American Textile History Museum, the Harvard Museum of Natural History, the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MoCA) and the Museum of Fine Arts. Photo ID and a valid Bank of America/Merrill Lynch credit or debit card must be presented at the time of visit. There is also free admission for Newton residents today at the Jackson Homestead and Museum from noon - 5 p.m.

5. Author event with Nitza Rosovsky. Rosovsky, the author of In the Land of Israel: My Family 1806-1949, will speak at Newtonville Books today at 2 p.m.
