Five Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 9

An art reception, a sports nutrition lecture and Friday night under the lights at Newton North!

1. Friday night under the lights. The Newton North football team will face Needham High School tonight in its first night game under the lights in six years -- and the first night game to be played at the new high school stadium. Game time is 6 p.m.

2. Show house. Have you checked out the Junior League of Boston's Show House at the Potter Estate in Newton? The showcase will be open through Nov. 18 and tickets are $30. 

3. Art reception. The New Art Center will host a reception tonight for its latest exhibit, New Media | Fresh Paint II and Sarah Pollman: Photography. The reception starts at 6 p.m.

4. Info on sports nutrition. The Newton North Nutrition Club will host a presentation on sports nutrition tonight at 7 p.m. in the Newton North film lecture hall. The program will feature Nancy Clark RD, CSSD, "an internationally known sports nutritionist and best-selling author trusted by many top athletes." The event is free.
