An art talk, a hometown football game and free admission to the Jackson Homestead.

1. Go Lions! The Newton South varsity football team will face Westford Academy in a home game today at 2 p.m.

2. Newton Community Weekend. Newton residents get free admission this weekend at the Jackson Homestead & Museum. The museum is open noon - 5 p.m. 

3. Happy Birthday, MiniLuxe! To celebrate its 5th birthday, MiniLuxe in Newton Centre is offering 5 percent off all retail purchases today.

4. Art talk. The New Art Center will host a gallery talk this afternoon at 3 p.m. for the exhibition "Out of the Ruins: Reimagining the Romantic Tradition." Join the curator and artists to hear their take on the meaning of Romanticism in today's society.

5. Brick program. The Newton 9-11 Memorial Committee has an ongoing successful engraved brick program. They have a limited number of bricks still available for engraving. To purchase a 1-3 line engraved brick for the walkway to the Memorial, call Sande Young at 617-527-1726 or email Ssyspts33@aol.com and she will send you an Engraved Brick form with directions.  Visit the committee's website for more information or to download a form.
