Green D Line Back to Full Service

The line was partially down Tuesday after a tree took out one of the poles in Newton.

After shuttle buses transported T passengers through much of Newton yesterday, the MBTA's Green D Line is back to full service.

According to a Tweet sent this morning around 9:30 a.m., the MBTA GM confirmed that normal trolley service had resumed

Governor Deval Patrick also noted the service restoration during a post-storm press conference this morning.

Shuttle buses replaced D Line trains all day yesterday while crews worked to repair a broken pole between the Eliot and Waban stops. The line was shut down most of the day between Newton Highlands and Riverside, although there were points where the whole line was down.

During a statement yesterday in Newton, Acting MBTA GM Jonathan Davis said crews were working to repair one of the catenary poles that was knocked down and twisted when a "substantial tree" blew over during the hurricane Monday and took out wires attached to the pole.

At the time, Davis said it would take at least 24 hours to repair the pole and that service interruptions could last for several days.

Passengers should prepare for shuttle buses again this weekend, as they will be in place from Riverside to Reservoir Stations Nov. 3-4.
