How to Help Newton's Food Pantries

Give back to your neighbors and your local food pantry this holiday season.

While many of us are thinking about about what dish to bring to the family Thanksgiving dinner this year, thousands of Massachusetts residents are worried about whether they'll have food on the table at all.

You can donate to Massachusetts organizations like Project Bread, a program that often helps out local food pantries here in Newton.

Centre Street Food Pantry

Located at Trinity Episcopal Church on Centre Street.

Hours: Tuesdays 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. and the first Saturday of every month, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Food donations: Accepted when the pantry is open on Tuesdays and the first Saturday of the month. Please remember to check expiration dates. Large food donations can be made by appointment.

Financial contributions: Make checks payable to Centre Street Food Pantry and mail to: Centre Street Food Pantry, 11 Homer St., Newton Centre MA 02459. Or donate online.

Volunteer: Email CentreStFoodPantry@gmail.com and don't forget to read the guidelines and download the volunteer application.

Newton Food Pantry 

Located in the basement of the Waban Community Library on Beacon Street.

Hours: Food is distributed Wednesdays 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. and the third Saturday of every month 11 a.m. - noon. The pantry provides a three-day supply of food once a month for eligible Newton residents.

Food donations: The pantry is open for non-perishable donations 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and on the third Saturday from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Donations are also accepted at Hammond Real Estate 6/7 days per week.

Financial contributions: Make checks payable to the Newton Food Pantry and mail to: Newton Food Pantry, 1608 Beacon St., Newton MA 02468.

Arabic Baptist Church Food Pantry

Located at the Arabic Baptist Church on Church Street.

Hours: Food and clothing is handed out on the second and fourth Friday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A three-day supply of food is provided once per month for eligible Newton residents.

Referrals can be found through local clergy or the Community Social Worker at (617) 796-1282.
