Newton's Overnight Parking Ban Starts Thursday, Nov. 15

The ban runs from Nov. 15 - April 15.

Starting Thursday, Nov. 15, Newton's annual winter parking ban kicks in, which means cars cannot be parked on city streets overnight.

The ban runs from Nov. 15 to April 15 and prohibits parking on streets between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Overnight parking is considered to be more than one hour between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Violators will be fined $5.

Those residents who live near municipal parking lots are allowed to apply for parking permits through the Newton Police Department. The stickers come with a fee and allow residents to park in the municipal lots overnight (between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.) unless there is a snow emergency.

Applications for permits are available online

Any questions can be directed to the Police Department's Traffic Bureau at 617-796-2106.
