Shuttle buses were put in place early this morning to substitute train service between Riverside and Newton Highlands, according to an alert from the MBTA sent around 6:30 a.m. This includes Riverside, Woodland, Waban and Eliot Stops.

According to an alert sent at 5:10 a.m., the delays were due to a wire problem at the Waban Station.

As of 10:45 a.m., those shuttle buses were still in place. Passengers are encouraged to use alternate transportation where possible.

This is the third time in the last week the D Line has had to shut down part of its service due to power problems.

On Saturday, a problem at Longwood Station forced passengers to take the C Line to Cleveland Circle and transfer to the D Line at the Reservoir stop. Shuttle buses also replaced some D Line service in Newton on Friday due to a power problem somewhere on the Newton part of the line.

Newton Patch will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
