When is Curbside Christmas Tree Collection in Newton?

Yard Waste collection ends this week, but you will have two weeks in January to recycle your Christmas tree.

Yard waste collection may end this week in Newton, but the city will still take Christmas trees for a small period of time after the holidays.

According to the city's website, Christmas trees will be collected curbside the first two weeks in January. This season, the collections will run from January 7-18, 2013.

During the Christmas tree collection weeks, residents should place undecorated Christmas trees out on the curb by 7 a.m. on the regular trash/recycling collection day. All decorations and lights must be removed and the tree cannot be in a bag.

After this two week period, the city will not collect Christmas trees and residents will be responsible for disposing them on their own. Or, residents can prepare the tree according to yard waste guidelines and wait until yard waste pickup resumes in the spring.

And, as a reminder, regular yard waste collection ends this week, the week of Dec. 17 (yard waste cannot be collected as trash). Yard waste collections will resume in April.
