Newton's Mayor Candidates Talk about a New School, Medical Marijuana

Setti Warren and Ted Hess-Mahan squared off in a debate this week.

The Newton Mayor candidates faced off this week during a debate and covered a number of topics.

While Mayor Setti Warren said the city does not need a 16th elementary school, challenger and Alderman Ted Hess-Mahan areas like Upper Falls are deprived of a sense of community due to the lack of local schools, according to the Boston Globe.

Having voted for a moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries in Newton, Hess-Mahan he called the moratorium "ill-advised" at the debate. Both Warren and Hess-Mahan said they support a dispensary in the city, the Globe reported.
