2014 Newton STUDENT ENVIRONMENTAL ART EXHIBIT
Theme: 2014 GREEN OLYMPICS: HELP YOUR SCHOOL WIN A GOLD MEDAL BY GOING GREEN!
Create your poster or video of green events your school can compete in,
such as: *Skiing to school * Skating a recycled obstacle course
* Bottle bobsledding * Re-using school t-shirts for team uniforms
* Composting cafeteria food * Your own ideas!*
Green Decade/Newton’s 8th Annual Newton Student EnviroArt Contest invites all student artists in Grades 1-5 to participate, for any student living or
attending school in Newton.

Students may enter as an individual or in teams of 2. Art FORMAT: either 2 dimensional Poster (12 x 18 max) OR Videos (3 minutes max). Parents must pre-register at www.greendecade.org
Submission deadline is
Friday, February 28. Entries
can be submitted at art collection boxes at the Newton elementary schools, the Mayor’s Office at City Hall, New Art Center (61 Washington Park, Newtonville) or Green
Planet Kids (22 Lincoln St, Newton Highlands). All locations will be listed at www.greendecade.org.

The AWARDS Ceremony & Art Exhibit will be held on Monday, APRIL 1 at Newton City Hall’s War Memorial Auditorium at 6:30 pm. Green Medalists
(1st place) for each grade level will receive an Energy Smart Newton T-shirt
with a gift certificate from Green Planet Kids. Each participant will receive a
certificate and all participants will be entered into a raffle for a T-shirt
and gift certificate from Green Planet Kids.
The contest is co-sponsored by Green Decade/Newton and other organizations.
