Do you know a young person who enjoys singing, performing and traveling? Youth pro Musica, the Greater Boston Youth Chorus, is holding auditions for its spring season on the evenings of January 7, 8 and 14.  Since 1970, YpM has introduced the joy and fellowship of choral singing to boys and girls from all over Greater Boston.  Weekly rehearsals in West Newton provide ear and sight singing training, vocal technique and exposure to diverse music sung in various languages -- taught in a non-competitive, collaborative environment.

In the last few seasons, YpM has appeared in Montreal with the world renowned Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal, with Chorus pro Musica, the Newton Choral Society, at Boston's Jordan Hall, Fanueil Hall and Sanders Theater (Harvard University) and in the premiere and recording of "Kinderkreuzzug" by Newton-based composer Ralf Gawlick.  This June, YpM singers will tour and perform in New York City.

Interested singers are encouraged to contact YpM and schedule an audition.  YpM's three divisions, based on age and prior musical experience, perform together and separately throughout the season.

Weekly Rehearsal Schedule:

Training Chorus -- Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 p.m. (beginning singers grades 2 and up)

Repertory Chorus -- Tuesdays 6 - 7:30 p.m. (approximately grades 5 - 8)

High School Ensemble -- Tuesdays 7:45 - 9:15 p.m. (approximately grades 9 - 12)

No prior musical training is required to join the two younger divisions, but some musical experience is necessary for admittance to the High School Ensemble.   Auditions take about 15 minutes.  They are by appointment with Artistic Director Robert Barney.
