FINAL WEEKEND! The Umbrella Presents: Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson

The cast of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is ready to rock the house for the final weekend of this rowdy musical, April 3-6 on The Umbrella’s main stage. The life of “Old Hickory,” the maverick army general, who emerged a national hero after defeating the British at The Battle of New Orleans, is the subject of this rock invocation about the Age of Populism.

Known as a man-of-the-people, Jackson is reimagined in a politically dusted tapestry of truth and fiction as a rock star, one whose fan base supports, encourages and propels him to become the 7th president and one of the most influential figures in American history.

Gene Dante of Boston plays the highly energized Jackson, and Andrea Giangreco of Burlington plays his burdened and worrisome wife, Rachel Jackson. Historical heavy hitters John Quincy Adams, James Monroe, Martin Van Buren, John C. Calhoun and Henry Clay are played by Sebastian Hoffman, Grant Harris of Bedford, Michael Lacey, Eric Dwinnels, and Robert Case, respectively. Shana Dirik of Acton takes on the role of the Storyteller.

This over-the-top political satire will have you smiling and bouncing to the beat after just a few musical notes. Historic battles, political alignments, cowboys and Indians, territorial sensitivities, and yes, even prostitution—a virtual potpourri of clash and circumstance that led the way to the founding of the Democratic party.

Don’t miss your opportunity to see this highly popular production. The curtain falls on our final performance Sunday, April 6. Be sure to get your tickets! For more information, or for tickets, please visit www.emersonumbrella.org.
