HISTORIC NEWTON WALKS, Discovering Houghton: Newton’s Secret Garden
Discovering
Houghton: Newton’s Secret Garden
Named the Garden City, did you know that Newton has only one public garden? Houghton
Gardens has a rich history and was one of our nation’s pre-eminent gardens
during the 1930s and 1940s. Join Michele Hanss, Head of the Friends of Houghton
Garden, in discovering Martha and Clement Houghton’s inspirations for
developing this site – including help from pioneers in the fields of horticulture
and landscape design. Ultimately, did their masterpiece withstand the test of
time?
