Julia Talbott: "Traps" Art Exhibition Public Reception

Unbound Visual Arts is sponsoring "Julia Talcott: Traps" at the Faneuil Library Art Gallery in Brighton. The artist is a resident of Newton. The exhibition, curated by Ronni Komarow, is a series of relief printmaking and collages that provide “graphic expression” through “shapes, patterns, color and an opportunistic eye for the natural world” that form the “basis of her work.” A public reception is Saturday September 21st from 11:00 - 1:00 pm. The exhibition runs through October 16, 2013 and is open from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on Mon.  Julia Talcott, a member of Unbound Visual Arts, is an illustrator and owner of Studio 80, a printmaking studio.  She received her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and her BFA from Williams College in Williamstown.  She has been an artist as long as she can remember and has worked as an illustrator since 1985.   Since that time she has also added printmaker and teacher to her resume, recently joining the ranks of the Boston Printmakers.   Julia currently teaches relief printmaking techniques at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown, MA, and the Maud Morgan center in Cambridge.  Her illustration clients include magazines, books, advertising and design agencies.  She was the official creator of the 1996 Christmas stamp for the US Postal Service and has received 4 certificates of design excellence from Print Magazine.  She has shown her printmaking work in various group exhibits both in the Boston area and nationally.
