Newton Celebrates India

Experience and enjoy the rich flavors, music, dance, crafts, theatre and games of Indian culture - right here in Newton! Taste delicious Indian cuisine catered by Gourmet India; try out henna and Indian fashion and makeup; and browse the many Indian craft vendor booths. There are Indian-themed arts and crafts for kids, and board games to try out from 10am - noon, as well as a Madhubani Painting Demonstration, and an informative "Cultural Grooves of India" video. The afternoon of entertainment begins with a theatre performance by SETU. The entertainment schedule from 1:00pm - 4:00pm features classical and folk music and dances performed by reputed local Indian music and dance schools. The full schedule is available at www.newtoncommunitypride.org.  The festival ends with everyone invited to participate in lively Bollywood Zumba, led by Newton's own Param Roychondhury. Admission is free. Please bring a non-perishable food item for the Newton Food pantries.
