Outside the Box 2013

Outside The Box is Boston's inaugural nine-day summer performing arts festival that will showcase both local and international musicians, dancers, theatre groups, and more.  The festival will transform Boston Common and City Hall Plaza into a moveable feast for music, theatre, dance, and food lovers for nine magnificent days.  The schedule for the top-headliners on Saturday, July 20th are:

  • Buffalo Tom, 5pm, Boston Common Main Stage: this band was born out of the University of Massachusetts back in 1986, and in 2007 they released Three Easy Pieces and were honored with a retrospective at the Boston Music Awards.
  • The Lemonheads, 6:30pm, Boston Common Main Stage: this band are the leaders of the 90s punk-cum-rock rebirth! Evan Dando formed the group with two high school buddies in 1986 at Boston's tiny Commonwealth School.  They've had several hit albums and singles.
  • The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, 8pm, Boston Common Main Stage: from their formation in 1984, they've played thousands of shows all over the world and released scores of records. Founding members Dickey Barrett, Joe Gittleman, Ben Carr and Tim Burton are still with the band!
  • Taj Mahal Trio, 8pm, City Hall Plaza: composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Taj Mahal is one of the most prominent and influential figures in the late 20th century blues and roots music.
