Brothers, Who Each Lost a Leg, to Walk Marathon Route Tuesday with Family

Family and friends of the Norden brothers, JP & Paul, will walk the entire marathon route today, April 15 as part of the LEGS FOR LIFE fundraiser.

Brothers JP & Paul Norden were severely injured during the second blast at the 2013 Boston Marathon explosion a year ago today.

Each brother lost a limb and their bodies were pelted with shrapnel.

Today, April 15,  at 9 a.m. the entire Norden family will walk the Boston Marathon route from Hopkinton through Framingham to Boston with the goal to raise enough funds to ensure that both JP & Paul have “Legs For Life”.

JP and Paul Norde, of Stoneham, were waiting with Paul's girlfriend, Jacqui, for a friend to cross the finish line when the first explosion went off at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013.

As they scrambled to help Jacqui to safety, the second bomb detonated right beside them, exactly 12 seconds later. Both of the brothers lost a leg while Jacqui was blown into the street.

Last year, exactly one month after the bombing sisters Caitlin and Colleen, along with Uncle Pete and a few family friends made the trek to help raise funds for the boys medical care. They walked from Hopkinton to Boylston Street finish line, in just over 9 hours where they were met by JP and Paul.

Today's walk will will include the entire family Liz, the brothers mother, sisters Caitlin & Colleen, brotherJonathan and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

The Norden Family will walk the 26 mile journey together, side by side tagging in and out as needed throughout the day, step by step in their very own “Legs For Life Relay."

Funds raised from this walk will assist the boys with future prosthetic limbs that can cost more than $100,000 per limb. The purpose of the fundraising walk is to ensure JP & Paul have “LEGS FOR LIFE."
