This fall, Newton lost a bright young student, and her family has created a memorial fund in her name. 

Many people have already helped the Katie Stack Memorial Fund, in honor of the Newton South High School student who took her own life this fall. Her family have started a GoFundMe.com fundraising effort to raise the $35,000 for a memorial. 

"Let us always remember Katie's wonderful spirit and desire to help the world with her love and support. She was a sweet and adoring child who touched so many of our lives in a positive way. We will never forget her kind and sensitive nature," her mother Tiffany Baker Stack wrote on the GoFundMe.com page.
