It's the weekend, and that means plenty of music and arts events in the Newton area.

3. Israel in Egypt. The Newton Community Chorus will perform Handel's Israel in Egypt tonight at the in Newton Centre. The concert begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are available online

5. Non-profit teen band program. . at 214 Garden St. in Needham. This registration is for the program's spring session, which begins March 5. In addition to the weekly band classes, the teen rock band program teaches kids about using music to help others. In addition to weekly classes, songwriting workshops and community performances, three times a year students perform in benefit concerts that raise money for causes and organizations chosen by the students themselves.
