Five Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 22

An open house, a nearby festival and a ton of yard sales to check out.

1. Women's Club of Newton Highlands Open House. The non-profit organization invites you to check out the group's newly renovated Women's Club Workshop at 72 Columbus St. in Newton Highlands. The open house will run from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

2. Go Tigers! The Newton North varsity football team will face Framingham today at Bowditch Field in Framingham. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

3. Check out Patch at Faire in the Square! Patch will be one of the many tables set up at today's Faire in the Square in neighboring Watertown, so stop by and say hello! The event will be held at Saltonstall Park (149 Main St., Watertown) from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

4. Yard sales. There are a ton of deals to find in Newton today -- check out our long list of local yard sales. 

5. Mass Audubon's Photo Contest. Mass Audubon's Third Annual Photo Contest, Picture This: Your Great Outdoors, will accept submissions until Sunday, Sept. 30. Photographers of all ages and skill levels are invited to enter the contests. The Grand Prize winner will be awarded a $250 gift card good for Mass Audubon programs and events and for gift shop purchases at Mass Audubon’s statewide network of wildlife sanctuaries.
