Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 11

A blood drive, a Newton Conservators meeting and a parent presentation on student sleep.

1. Blood drive. The will host a blood drive today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who donate receive a coupon for a free pound of Dunkin' Donuts coffee. 

2. Newton Conservators. The Newton Conservators will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in room 203 at . 

3. Sleep and the School-Aged Child. Fighting bedtime with kids can be a challenge, regardless of age. Whether it's getting them to sleep or getting them to finish homework with enough time to sleep, a free seminar tonight might be able to help. at 7 in the for the free parent presentation titled "Sleep and the School-Aged Child."

4. MinuteClinic. A new MinuteClinic has opened at the  at 978 Boylston St. in Newton. According to a press release, the walk-in medical clinic is the 10th in Middlesex County and will be open in Newton seven days a week. 

5. Local theatre. Starting this week, tickets are on sale for 's production of Beauty and the Beast. The production won't hit the stage until Feb. 9, but tickets are available online and in the cafeteria during lunches at Newton South. In addition, tickets are also on sale for Cabaret Troupe's Crazytown, which will hit the stage at this Thursday and Friday.

One thing that slipped out of the "5 Things" this morning: Fire Station #7 (Elliot Street) will be rededicated today at 2 p.m.
