Doris Hopengarten, 94, of Newton, Former School Psychologist

Doris (Rose) Hopengarten of Newton died on Aug. 19 at the age of 94.

She worked as a school psychologist for the Needham Public Schools for 11 years, according to an obituary on the Brezniak Roadman Funeral Home website.

She was the wife of the late Sol Hopengarten; sister of the late Phyllis (Rose) Baskin and Richard Rose; mother of Fred Hopengarten, and his wife Betty Herr of Lincoln, and Jane Moss and her husband  Richard Moss of Pinehurst, N.C.; and grandmother of David Moss of Washington, D.C., Annie Hopengarten of Washington, DC, and Steven Hopengarten of Somerville.

Services will be held at Beit Olam Cemetery, 60 Old Sudbury Road in Wayland on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Fred Hopengarten and Betty Herr on Wednesday, Aug. 21 and Thursday evening after 6 p.m.

Donations may be made to Colby College, 4345 Mayflower Hill, Waterville, ME 04901, for support of Jewish Studies and Jewish Life.
