Karen Douglas, 18, Newton North Student, formerly of Natick

Funeral services for the Newton North High School senior will be held in Natick.

Karen E. Douglas of Newton and formerly of Natick died unexpectedly on Oct. 5 at the age of 18.

She was a senior at Newton North High School, and previously attended Lilja School in Natick, Country Day School in San Jose, Costa Rica, and St. Paul’s School in Wellesley, according to an obituary on the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home website.

Karen took part in many school sports and organizations including the Natick Town Basketball Team, Natick Drama Workshop, Community Rowing, NNHS Rugby Club, Old Grannies Club-club for cross stitching and knitting, which she founded. She also enjoyed shopping at thrift stores, wearing vintage clothing, music and attending concerts.

She was the daughter of Brian V. Douglas of Ashland and Lila A. McCain of Newton; sister of Sonya Maria Douglas of Newton; granddaughter of Dora A. McCain of Bradenton, Fla.; step-daughter of Sandy Douglas of Ashland and Peter Beaman of Newton, step-sister of Alyssa L. Perkins, Sarah C. Perkins both of Ashland, Christopher G. Beaman of Cambridge, Peter A. Beaman of Somerville, William G. Beaman of Los Angeles, Calif.; niece of Carmela Simmons, Christian McCain, Alec McCain, Yolanda McCain, Carl Douglas, James Douglas, Susan Demere, Diane Romoth, many cousins, numerous dear friends, and classmates. She was also the granddaughter of the late Parker and Frances Douglas and Edwin McCain.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Karen’s Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. in St Patrick Church, 44 East Central St. (route 135) in Natick. Visiting hours are Friday, Oct. 11, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street on the Natick Common.

Public services will conclude following the Funeral Mass.
