Rocco Marzilli, retired Newton Police Detective, Bronze Star Recipient

Visiting hours will be be held Wednesday and Thursday, with services on Thursday.

Rocco P. Marzilli of Newton died on Oct. 27. 

He retired from the Newton Police where he was a detective and he served in World War II in the European Theater and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service, according to an obituary on the Magni Funeral Home website.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Anna (Tocci); children Virginia Gill and her husband Bob of Brookline, Daniel T. Marzilli and his wife Bernice of Newton, Robert P. Marzilli and his wife Christine of Holliston, and Christopher A. Marzilli and his wife Franca of Newton; grandchildren Jason, David, Stephen, Lisa, Gina, Anne Marie, Sandra, Victoria, Cara, Robert Jr., Teresa, Andrea and Alexander and 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Alfred and Joseph Marzilli.

Visiting hours at the Andrew J. Magni & Son Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St. in Newton, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 3-8 p.m. and again on Thursday, Oct. 31, at 9:30 a.m. before proceeding to Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St. in Newton for a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Newton Cemetery.
