Stephen S. Wu of Newton died on Oct. 25 at the age of 91.
He was born in Hong Kong, served as an interpreter for the U.S. Army in China during World War II and came to the United States to get a masters degree in international relations from Stanford University, according to an obituary on Legacy.com.
He and his wife Grace moved to Cambridge and then Newton in 1957. He joined the Bank of Boston in 1954, and became its first Asian Vice President. He served on the board of trustees for both the Trinity Episcopal Church in Newton Centre and the West Suburban YMCA in Newton Corner.
He is survived by his sons Norman, Charles; daughters-in-law Patricia and Claudia, and five grandchildren, all of Newton. Funeral service will be held at Trinity Church, 11 Homer St. in Newton Center on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. Private interment at Newton Cemetery.
