Representative Kay Khan joins growing list of Eve Tapper's endorsers

In the wake of her impressive performance in last night’s Ward 2 ward alderman debate, Eve Tapper announced today that her candidacy has been endorsed by State Rep. Kay Khan, seven members of the Board of Aldermen, three members of the School Committee, and numerous Ward 2 opinion leaders.

"I've been very impressed with Eve.  She has the necessary skills and experience to do a great job representing the interests of Ward 2 residents on the Board," said Rep. Khan.

Rep. Khan joins Ward 2 Alderman at-Large Susan Albright, as well as Aldermen Vicki Danberg, Greg Schwartz, Marc Laredo, John Rice, Dick Blazar, and Ted Hess-Mahan in endorsing Eve to replace retiring Alderman Stephen Linsky, who is remaining neutral in the race to succeed him.

Eve has been endorsed by School Committee members Claire Sokoloff, Diana Fisher Gomberg, and Jonathan Yeo, who is serving as campaign co-chair along with former Board of Aldermen President Brooke Lipsitt.

In addition to Albright, Lipsitt, and Yeo, Eve has received significant support from numerous influential opinion leaders living in Ward 2, including Martina Jackson, Alan Schlesinger, Bob Engler, Jennifer Huntington, Jen Abbott, Sarah Ecker, Ruth and Bill Dain, George and Laurie Bower, and Jack Leader, who abandoned his own candidacy for the seat and endorsed Eve.

“I’m grateful to Rep. Khan as well as to all of the aldermen, school committee members, and fellow Ward 2 residents who share my vision for Newton’s future.  I can feel the momentum for my campaign building all across Ward 2, and I look forward to the many events that we’ve planned leading up to Election Day on November 5th.”

The latest endorsements follow last night’s debate, sponsored by the League of Women Voters and New-TV, in which Eve highlighted her experience, temperament, collaborative skills, and preparedness for the ward alderman position.

Eve’s priority as Ward 2 ward alderman will be to provide strong representation for her constituents as the city works to implement major changes associated with the reconstruction of the Cabot School and the revitalization of the entire Newtonville neighborhood.
