A&B Charges After Fight in Ginger Root; 2 Bikes Stolen

The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

On June 20, police responded to Union Street for a report of past vandalism. The resident said that sometime overnight his planter was knocked over and destroyed. 

On June 20, police headed to Washington Street for a report of a stolen bicycle. The person said his bike was at school and he went to the Lowell Street side of the soccer field to play. He left it on the bike rack, went to play soccer, and glanced over and it was gone. It's a black and grey made by Specialized. 

On June 21, police responded to the Ginger Root restaurant for a fight involving several people. Hearings are requested for assault and battery charges on a Newton man who is 42 and Newton woman who is 50.

On June 21, police responded to a past larceny report. At 8:30 a.m. the day before a resident said he rode his black, blue and white 2013 Trek bike to school at the Zervus. He parked it in the bike rack and later on, it was gone. 

On June 21, police went to Bloomingdales for a report of a shoplifted being detained. Loss Prevention said monitors showed that the woman concealed two shirts in a  plastic ziplock bag and walked past all the points of purchase. Jie Bian, 38, 50 Park St., Brookline, was arrested and charged with larceny over $250
