Blustery Day in Newton, Wind Advisory in Effect

Gusts could get up to 50 mph.

Hold on to your hats and watch out for falling wires!

The windy day today has caused a few problems in the area, including some downed wires near the intersection of Stony Brae and Shady Hill Roads in Newton Highlands.

Police were at the intersection for more than an hour to handle traffic while they waited for NStar to arrive on scene.

A wind advisory is in effect for the area until 5 a.m. Sunday, with wind speeds forecasted between 25-35 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. The National Weather Service warned today of isolated power outages as well as dangerous driving conditions for those with high-profile vehicles.
