Van Snaps Utility Pole, Bursts Into Flames in Beacon Street Crash

The fire department said the section of Beacon Street was closed "indefinitely" so crews could make repairs.

A van burst into flames in a crash on Beacon Street Wednesday afternoon.

No one was injured in the two-vehicle crash, which happened near Walnut Street at about 2:30 p.m. 

One of the vehicles struck a utility pole, snapping it in half. NSTAR crews were notified and sent to the scene to fix it.

Firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out in the engine block of the van.

The fire department said the section of Beacon Street was closed "indefinitely" so crews could make repairs.
