UPDATED: Driver Suffers Serious Injures in Morning Crash in Newton

A car hit a tree near 733 Beacon St.

UPDATED Dec. 31, 3:45 p.m. As of 2 p.m., Newton Police could not offer any additional details on the crash or the driver involved. According to Officer Eric Rosenbaum, the accident is still under investigation.

UPDATED, 12:17 p.m.: Firefighters transported one person to Beth Israel Deaconness Hospital in Boston with serious injuries after a morning car crash on Beacon Street, according to the Newton Fire Department Twitter feed

The accident occurred when a silver pickup truck slammed into a tree at 733 Beacon St., according to the Newton Fire Department. The driver became trapped, but firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate the individual.
