A woman at the Newton Free Library couldn’t find her keys and went outside to find her car and it was gone. The stolen car was a white Hyundai Elantra.
A Hazelhurst Avenue resident told police she believes her home was broken into at about 7 a.m. She noticed items in the house were out of place and some money was missing.
A bicycle was stolen from Newton North High School. The owner said he locked up his silver Giant mountain bike at 7:10 a.m. and when he returned at 2:35 p.m. it was gone.
A person reported a bicycle has been missing since Sept. 10. It was taken from his home on Sherbrooke Road. He believes the garage door was open when his black Trek hybrid bike was taken. It is black, with straight handlebars and a plastic pink flower attached.
An employee at Mr. K’s Liquors noticed a missing bottle of wine on Sept. 15. Store security video showed a man putting a bottle in his pants, then went to buy a bottle of beer and left without paying for the wine. The same man is suspected of taking multiple bottles of wine from the store. Police tracked down the man, Keith Kugel, 46, of 69 Lincoln St. in Newton, and arrested him on charges of shoplifting and trespassing.
A woman got cash back while making a purchase at the self-checkout line at Star Market and forgot to take the $50. When she went back it was gone. Security tape shows the woman behind her in line taking the money. The suspect is described as a white, middle-aged woman.
While shopping at Star Market, a woman turned her back and when she turned around she found her cell phone and wallet were missing from her carriage. The wallet contained credit cards, cash and an Illinois driver’s license.
Police arrested Taylor H. Adams, 24, of 122 Cleveland St. in Newton on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
An employee at the Auburn Cove was packing up her car and left her diaper bag that contained an iPad outside her car. She left the bag behind and when she returned she found the bag but the iPad was gone. Police tracked the iPad and found it was last on Ash St. in Waltham.
