Driver Crashes Car into Waban Shoe Repair Shop

The driver only suffered only minor injuries.

An 85-year-old Newton woman was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital this morning after she accidentally drove her car into the Waban Shoe Repair shop around 10:20 a.m.

According to Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker, the woman told police she was pulling into a parking spot in front of the shoe repair shop when she accidentally accelerated and jumped the curb, hitting the building and an unoccupied parked car.

The woman had intended to hit the brakes, but accelerated instead, Apotheker said. She also hit the concrete curb and a metal railing. 

The woman suffered minor injuries in the accident, Apotheker said.

A driver suffered minor injuries this morning after crashing a Mercedes into the Waban Shoe Repair shop around 10:20 a.m.

According to Tweets from the Newton Fire Department PIO Lt. Eric Fricke, the driver was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital with minor neck pain. 

A city building instructor was called to the scene and no major building damage was reported, Fricke said.
