Report: Ex-Newton Teacher Charged with Child Porn Took Photos of Students [UPDATED]

David Ettlinger took pictures at Underwood Elementary School, but the photos were not pornographic in nature, reports CBS Boston.

A former teacher facing numerous child porn charges reportedly took photos of his students while he was teaching in Newton, CBS Boston reported last night.

According to the CBS Boston story, the Middlesex County District Attorney's office confirmed that David Ettlinger took the photos at the school. The DA also said the photos were not pornographic in nature and therefore, Ettlinger will not face criminal charges for those classroom photos.

Police reportedly called in parents to confirm that their children were in the photos found in Ettlinger's apartment. 

Ettlinger, 34, faces allegations of possession child pornography, indecent assault and battery and other related charges. .

"I am very upset to hear the disturbing news about the pictures of Underwood students," Superintendent David Fleishman said Tuesday. "I can only imagine the feelings of those parents whose students were photographed. We will continue to do everything possible to support the Underwood community."

and arraigned in Brighton District Court on multiple counts of possession of child pornography. He was arraigned on Jan. 18 in West Roxbury District Court for indecent assault and battery charges, . 

On Feb. 8, and subsequently arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court. He was held on $50,000 bail for charges related to a girl he allegedly assaulted while babysitting. 

At a pretrial conference in Brighton on Feb. 16, . 

Ettlinger also faces federal charges for his involvement with the child pornography website "Dreamboard."

Ettlinger taught in the Newton Public Schools for 12 years, at both and Underwood Elementary. .
