Gas Line Struck at Mt. Ida College; Buildings Evacuated

A construction crew is said to have damaged a 1-inch high-pressure line.

Several buildings at Mt. Ida College were evacuated Monday afternoon when a construction crew reportedly struck a gas line.

The Newton Fire Department said the incident happened at about noon at Holbrook Hall. The crew is said to have damaged a 1-inch, high-pressure line. Gas was was shut off following the break.

No one was hurt. NSTAR workers responded to the scene to help repair the line.
