A truck reportedly knocked over a utility pole, sending it crashing down on a stroller.

A quick-thinking mother pushed her children out of harm's way Tuesday morning when a utility crashed down on North Avenue in Wakefield, Mass., police said.

Police said at about 8:45 a.m., a paving truck made an illegal turn and struck a utility pole, sending it crashing down on the woman as she pushed her two children in a jogging stroller.

The mother was able to push her children out of the way, but the pole struck her, police said. She suffered a bunch of cuts but was expected to be OK, police said.

CBS Boston reported that the children were a two-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy. The children and their mother all were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for evaluation.

The truck driver expressed remorse for the incident to WBZ News Radio: "I'm traumatized. I have grandkids of my own."

Police said the driver will likely be cited for making an illegal turn. There could be additional charges, police said.
