Man Allegedly Raped a Child in Newton Who He Met Online

The Dunstable man was held on $100,000 bail.

A Dunstable man was arraigned in Newton District Court on Tuesday on charges that he raped a child under 16 after meeting the person online.

Kenneth Fennell, 46, of 93 Adams St. in Dunstable, was arraigned on charges of rape of a child, enticement of a child under 16, entering a dwelling at night for a felony and possession of child pornography, said Middlesex District Attorney's Office Spokeswoman Stephanie Guyotte.

Fennell met the victim online, Guyotte said, and the incident occurred in Newton. No further details could be provided because the victim is a minor, Guyotte said.

He was held on cash bail of $100,000, Guyotte said, and if he posts bail he will be held on house arrest with a GPS monitor. He will also be ordered to stay away from and may not contact the victim, he can have no unsupervised contact with anyone under age 16 (besides his own children) and no working or volunteering with anyone under age 16, Guyotte said.

The next hearing will be Dec. 10.
