MBTA Driver Charged in Sunday Crash

Transit Police filed charges against the driver on Monday.

Transit police have filed obstruction of justice charges against the driver of an MBTA bus that crashed Sunday morning injuring eight.

MBTA Spokesman Joe Pesaturo told the Boston Herald that the 42-year-old bus driver is said to have misled investigators by not being cooperative in the investigation.

MBTA officers filed the obstruction of justice complaint in Newton District Court and her arraignment is set for May 27, according to the Herald.

Sunday morning the bus crashed into a guardrail in Newton Corner leaving the front end dangling over the Massachusetts Turnpike. Seven passengers and the bus driver were injured in that crash and were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Earlier today WHDH, 7-News reported sources told them investigators were looking into the possibility that the driver was using a cell phone when the crash happened and said the driver may be cited
