New York Men Charged with Fraud at Newton Bloomingdale's

The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Newton police on Tuesday charged two New York men with using a fake credit card to buy more than $250 worth of items at Bloomingdale's in the Chestnut Hill Mall.

Arrested were:

  • Hector Guilamo, 27, of 1122 Anderson Ave., Apt. 2, Bronx, NY
  • Carlos De La Cruz, 41, of 11 Whiteson Pl., Apt. 2, New Rochelle, NY
They were each charged with larceny over $250. De La Cruz also had a fake Connecticut license in his possession when officers were called to the store at about 3:45 p.m., police said.

Earlier Tuesday, police said a man's keys and identification were stolen from Boston Athletic Club on Washington Street. The victim said the lock on his locker was busted open and someone stole the items.
