Newton Man Arraigned for Arson, Multiple Attempted Murder Charges

A Newton man was arraigned on charges of eight attempted murders after he allegedly lit his home on fire while he and his family was at home.

Tze Mui, 58, of 181 Pearl St. in Newton, appeared in Newton District Court Monday morning after being arrested on Nov. 2 for the arson and attempted murder charges.

The attempted murder charges include four of his family members and four first responders, said Stephanie Guyotte, spokeswoman for the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. 

On Nov. 2, Newton Fire and Police responded to residential fire where someone was reportedly trapped.

Mui was held without bail, and will appear at a dangerousness hearing on Nov. 8 at 2 p.m., Guyotte said.
