Newton Police Log: Car Window Smashed and Tips Stolen from Starbucks

Jan. 9
Police were called to the Marriott Hotel for an unconscious man in the floor of the bathroom. Police summonsed a 40-year-old man from Everett to court on a charge of possession of a Class A drug.
Jan. 10
Police arrested Theodore Gerald Helms, 43, of 253 River St. in Newton, on a probation warrant from Newton District Court.
Jan. 12
A woman came into Starbucks on Centre Street and took $25 to $30 from the tip jar. The suspect is described as a 5-foot-8 foot tall white woman, skinny build, blond hair, in her late 20s who had an Eastern European accent. A customer spotted the woman leaving with a handful of cash.
The owner of a car returned and found the backseat side window was shattered and an Aldo shopping bag with a Garmin GPS device, sunglasses and Dell laptop was found behind the driver's backseat.
Police arrested Joseph Michael Brashears-Hunt, 30, of 280 Melrose St. Apt. B in Newton, was arrested on three warrants - one from Newton District Court for failing to stop/yield, driving on a suspended license; a second from Brookline District Court for shoplifting by asportation; and a third from Newton District Court for driving on a suspended license and speeding.
