Newton Police Log: Copper Wire Stolen, Bikes Stolen from Newton Schools

The following information was provided by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Oct. 7

Two bikes were reported stolen from an open garage on Kirkstall Road. One was black and one green. They were taken on Oct. 5.

A man doing work on a home on Collins Road left three coils of copper cable in the basement. He believed he knew who took the wire, noting that he also had wire stolen from a construction site in Bellingham.

A student rode his bike to Newton North and because he was running late he did not lock it up. When he came out after school it was gone. It is a black and yellow 24-speed bike with and Under Armor water bottle.

A bike was stolen from F.A. Day Middle School. It is a black and grey Trek mountain bike.

Oct. 8

Police arrested Steven A. Greco, 42, of 262 Adams St. Apt. 2 in Newton, on two counts of domestic assault and battery.

Police arrested Yury Becker, 54, of 105 Wayne Road in Newton on charges of domestic assault and battery and threats to commit a crime.
