Newton Police Log: Driver Hits Man with Car, Phones Stolen from Store

The following information was provided by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Sept. 3

A Troy Built 27090 PSI pressure washer was stolen from a home on Smith Avenue.

A building on Saw Mill Brook Parkway and some trucks were tagged with spray paint overnight.

A worker at a salon on Centre Street discovered her iPad was missing after she had a walk-in client who was accompanied by three men. One of the men asked to use the restroom three times, which is in the back of the salon - and near where she had left the iPad. The woman was described as a black female, 18-20 years old, 5-8 and with a thin build. The men were described as: 1) black male, slim build, 20-25 years old, 6-3, with facial hair; 2) black male, heavy build, 20-25 years old, 5-8; 3) short white male, 18-20 years old.


Sept. 4

A man was waiting for a tow truck at at Newton-Wellesley Hospital when another car came and parked in front of his car. The man asked the driver of the car to move so he could be towed. When the man walked behind the car the driver pulled out violently and struck the first man slightly in the knee. The driver, a 31-year-old man from Worcester, will be summonsed to court on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon - a motor vehicle.

A man came into the AT&T Store on Boylston Street and took two display phones. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt a and jeans. The AT&T store on Needham Street said a man with the same description was seen in that store earlier in the day.


Sept. 5

A 21-year-old woman from Hingham will be summonsed to court on a charge of 
domestic assault and battery.
