Newton Police Log: Liquor Store Broken Into, Thief Strikes Same Store Twice

The following information was provided by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Oct. 18

 A man came into the Apple Store and stole a MacBook Pro laptop. Security video shows a Hispanic man trying to plug in his cell phone into the computer and looked around nervously. The suspect is described as having black hair pulled back into a bun, wearing a black long sleeve shirt and a grey vest.

Oct. 19

A woman and her two kids were in their home on Pearl Street when she heard a window break. She found two solar lights from her garden had been taken out and thrown through a window in her entranceway.

Someone threw a white powder that appeared to be flour on a car on Commonwealth Avenue. The resident said the neighborhood had been vandalized several times this year by Boston College students who were having parties.

A $12,000 necklace was taken from Talori Fine Jewelry on Union Street. The necklace was taken while a clerk was helping another customer. The jewelry had a 12 mm was a Omega with opal, diamond and Tanzanite. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male in his late 20s with minimal facial hair and wore a baseball cap, dark jacket, pants and a white shirt and a blue backpack.

A bicycle was taken from a home on Clark Street while the owner was on vacation. The bike is a grey Trek hybrid with white brake wires and shocks.

A man came into the AT&T Store on Boylston Street and took an iPhone 5C and an iPhone 5S from a display and ran toward the MBTA station. The suspect was a black male, 6-feet-tall, slim, and wore a grey hooded sweatshirt and light colored pants.

Police arrested Eric Cameron Brown, 21, of 252 Pearl St. Apt. B in Newton, on charges of speeding and driving with a suspended license.

 

Oct. 20

A man broke a glass pane and broke into Mr. K’s Discount Liquors on Boylston Street. A video shows the suspect look around the store, rummaged around and found the cash box and then leave the store. The suspect wore a blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head, and a baseball cap.

 

Oct. 21

A man stole a Motorola X cell phone from the AT&T Store on Boylston Street and ran out of the store. An employee told police she believes the suspect was the same man who stole two phones from the store on Oct. 19.
