Newton Police Log: Man Strikes Tow Truck, High School Students Caught with Alcohol

The following information was provided by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Sept. 16

Two students at Newton North High School were caught with alcohol. A 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, both from Newton, will be summonsed to court on a charge of minors in possession of alcohol.

Police arrested Derek Campbell, 53, of 2150B Commonwealth Avenue Apt. 4 in Newton, for to counts of domestic assault and battery.

A person refused to pay for a vehicle that had been towed to Negoshian’s Towing. An employee saw the man take a metal tool and hit the side door of the tow truck. A 41-year-old man from Boston will be summonsed to court on a charge of malicious damage to a motor vehicle.

A bicycle was stolen from a garage on Longfellow Road. The burgundy colored 2000 Felt brand bike was taken between noon and 4 p.m.

A bike was left unlocked on Tiger Drive near the entrance to the football field in the morning and when the owner returned after 6 p.m. the bike was missing. The bike was a metallic blue men’s Fuji bike, size medium.
