Newton Police Log: Purse Stolen from Shaw's, Two Men Rip Off Radio Shack

The Community Center on Ash Street was vandalized. A man was spotted acting weird near the community center and later the witness noticed a metal casing unit that hosed a cable wire was ripped off.

Two men were spotted taking a phone case from Radio Shack on Needham Street. A clerk saw one man take a case out of a box and put it in his pocket. When asked if they were going to give the case back, one said "huh?" and then left the store. Police also stopped by the AT&T store where an employee said man had just come in and tried to return a phone case. The first suspect was described as white, about 30 years of age, 6-foot-3, slim build, long black hair that was slicked back, and was wearing a long black coat, black jeans, and black boots. The second male was described as white, about 30 years old, 5-foot-9, slim build, wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray pants, and a dark gray beanie type of hat.

Police arrested Murilo Perreira Debrito, 20, of 368 Elliot St. Apt. 2 in Newton, on a charge of defacing property and domestic assault.

A woman said her purse was taken from a cart while she was shopping at the Shaw's on Austin Street.
