Newton Police Log: Rolex Stolen from Home, Man Rolls Car and Faces OUI Charge

The following information was provided by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Dec. 31

A High Street resident reported his 2004 Nissan was broken into while parked in his driveway. A Pioneer touch screen radio was taken. 

A Lakeview Ave. resident heard a loud noise early on Dec. 31 and found that someone had smashed their front bay window with a rock. The downspout of the house was also taken down.

Jewelry, a Rolex watch and cash were taken from a home on Temple Street. 

Two packages were taken from a home on Roslyn Road while residents were on vacation. A neighbor was asked to pick the packages, but could not find them. They contained girl's clothing and women's clothing.

Jan. 1

A Prospect Street resident reported that she things some packages were stolen from her house. 

A bicycle was stolen from Jewett Street. The women's Cannondale bike was in an unlocked storage area under his apartment. The resident is not sure when it was taken because he hadn't checked for a while. 

A car crashed and rolled over on Washington Street. The driver was found outside the car. He was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and was arrested. The 29-year old Boston man will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and violating a red light.

Police arrested Xin Wang, 23, of 102 Erie Ave. in Newton on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
